Copy Editing
Cynful Monarch
Copy Editing focuses strictly on punctuation and grammar.
This option should be done after developmental editing.
I will also ensure that the sentences are as effective as they can be. I work line-by-line, tightening up sentence structure so the language is sharp and clear. I will look closely at how a writer’s word choice and syntax contribute to the tone or emotion of a piece of writing. I will leave plenty of comments and suggestions to ensure your story is the best it can be.
Please note that copy editing will not leave you with suggestions or comments on how to tighten up your plot, character development, or storyline. That is done in developmental editing. I will simply ensure that your manuscript is error-free.
* If your manuscript is unintentionally written in both first person and third person, I will charge an extra $150 to convert it over to either or. This makes editing extremely difficult and can result in longer turnaround times.
Copy Editing turnaround time depends on length and editor workload at the time of redemption. Please be sure to inbox me or email me to talk about timelines. Please plan accordingly, and don't hesitate to reach out with any questions. Manuscripts must be sent in Word documents.
After purchase, please email your manuscript to: Author.Cyn.Alexander@gmail.com
*I do offer sample editing up to 5 pages!
2025 Editing Policy
This policy outlines the terms and conditions for editing services provided by Cynful Monarch. By hiring me as your editor, you agree to the following terms:
1. Editing Credit Policy
- I provide three rounds of editing (which may include developmental, copy, and/or proofreading edits, depending on the package selected).
- If I do not complete all three rounds, my name must not be listed as the editor of the manuscript.
- Clients are free to acknowledge me in the acknowledgments section but may not list me as the official editor unless all rounds are completed.
2. Turnaround Time & Submission Deadlines
- Turnaround times vary based on the length, complexity, and quality of the manuscript at the time of submission.
- The official timeline for editing will begin once the full manuscript is submitted in the agreed-upon format.
- Any delays in receiving the manuscript may result in adjusted deadlines.
3. Revisions & Author Responsibility
- Each editing round allows for author revisions and feedback. Clients must submit their revisions within the agreed time frame to maintain the timeline, otherwise you understand that the timeline may be pushed back.
- If excessive rewrites are made after the first or second round, additional fees may apply due to the increased workload.
4. Payment & Refund Policy
- Refunds are not available once editing has begun. If a client chooses not to proceed after a round of editing, they will not be credited for future rounds.
5. Confidentiality & Manuscript Protection
- All client manuscripts are kept confidential and will never be shared, distributed, or discussed without the client’s written permission.
- I do not claim rights to any manuscript I edit. All creative ownership remains with the author.
6. Plagiarism & Ethical Standards
- I will not edit manuscripts that contain plagiarized content. If plagiarism is detected, the contract will be terminated without refund.
- Clients are responsible for ensuring their work is original before submission - this includes AI.
7. Final Responsibility
- While I strive to provide the highest quality editing, the final responsibility for the manuscript’s accuracy, clarity, and overall success rests with the author.
- I am not liable for errors that remain after the editing process, nor for any negative reviews, sales performance, or third-party opinions on the work.
By submitting a manuscript for editing, the client agrees to these terms.
